Missions Committee

Who are we?

Trinity Heights UMC Mission Work Group is a collection of individuals committed to transformative community and global service projects. We identify at least one project per month to focus our time, talents and monies collected from our congregation.

We loosely meet once monthly (currently on the 2nd Monday at 10 am at Bethel College Coffee Shop) to plan future events and to bring additional opportunities forward for consideration.

In the past year we have participated in “Laundry of Love”, financial support for Camp Horizon, participation in our Newton Community Thanksgiving event, cooked dinner and baked desserts for Circles of Hope, provided snack packs for children weekly at the Summer Educational Activities for Kids program, held churchwide food drive for Harvest of Love and provided support for New Hope, Safe Hope and Ember Hope.

December Work Group Report:

Due to a challenge by another local church regarding poundage donated, we will continue to collect food goods for Harvest of Love thru December. Watch for freezing weather in making donations of liquid items to the Blessing Box. Thank you so much for your support!  We are seeking additional members for our Mission Work Group; please consider joining us!  See Shari Kaiser or Jodie Thach for more info.

Church Wide Food Drive:

Trinity Heights is participating in a church wide food drive challenge! We will be accepting donations up until December 24, 2025. The Missions Work Group is challenging all church attendees to bring 10# of food, as you are able, for donation to the Harvest of Love Food Pantry. We have been in trying financial times for many persons, and food pantries are stretched. For example, one can of vegetables or fruit weighs about one pound; you can do the math. If bringing that much food is not possible, if you are able, a donation would be helpful. Money in one of the church envelopes, with an outside note indicating Harvest of Love, or a check to THUMC with Harvest of Love on the memo line, will be greatly appreciated. As always, thank you for your generosity!

Current Events:

Laundry of Love- Don’t forget to put your quarters in the jar on the Welcome Center.

Blessing Box- Donate any non-perishable food or household products for those in the community to use.

Church Wide Food Drive- Donate food for the Harvest of Love Food Pantry.
