A Wonder-full Life: Looking at Money and Meaning

The movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, starts with God making arrangements to send an angel to assist George Bailey, who finds himself in a financial and spiritual crisis:

God: “There’s a man down on earth that needs our help.”

Clarence, the Angel: “Is he sick?”

God: “No, worse, he’s discouraged.”

Like George Bailey, we sometimes need some help in the midst of the discouragement that can come with our fear about money. We need a vision greater than our own to see how wonder-full our life is and can be. Just like George Bailey heard a word from heaven when he met Clarence, we too will hear a word from heaven when we turn to scripture.

During this 3-week worship series, we will:

Week 1: Look back on what shapes our understanding of money with a practice of compassion for ourselves and others and a faith that reminds us of our true worth. (Matthew 22:15-22)

Week 2: Look in to and out to see new spiritual practices related to money and God’s call to offer our resources - money, time, and passion. (Matthew 6:19-24, 1 Timothy 6:17-19)

Week 3: Look with gratitude and find a renewed sense of abundance. (Acts 4:32-35)
