Quilters

The Piecemakers meet at the church each Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.

Piecemakers' Mission: To use our time and talents in support of THUMC and in the process to grow in our own support of THUMC. This mission statement was written in 1997 when the group was organized. Now the mission has increased to include the community.

Piecemakers have been organized for 12 years. The group started with about 6-8 women interested in hand quilting, piecing, and sewing.  Women from other churches in the community are included.

While some women do hand quilting, cutting and stitching blocks are also an important part of this ministry.

The group has several worthwhile projects:

  • When an infant is baptized at Trinity Heights, the child is given a hand-crafted baby blanket or quilt as a memento of the occasion.
  • Stitching and stuffing "Pain Pillows" for the local hospital, Newton Medical Center
  • Christmas pillows
  • Embroidered quilt blocks, tea towels, table runners, wall hangings -- just anything quilted!
The ladies have completed 94 quilts, 3400 Christmas pillows, and 64 baby blankets for the hospital and other organizations.

If you have a quilt top you want quilted, we may be able to help. Our prices vary according to the size, amount of quilting, supplies we might need to provide, marking, and binding.

Monies earned from quilting projects are donated to the church and the community.  Examples: purchased eternal flame for the new sanctuary, donations for high school jazz band trip, local food bank, domestic violence safe house, medical care for the un-insured, and the homeless shelter.

The Piecemakers quilting group would like to invite you to join them.  Everyone is welcome, even if you have never quilted before.  Please contact Marge Graham for more information at 316-284-2086.
