Purpose:To serve and strengthen the family unit by providing competent, reliable respite care to families in Harvey or Marion Counties who have special-needs children age 0-16 years.
What is Respite Care?Respite care is a temporary rest from the daily challenge of caring for a family member who has special needs, a gift of time. It is available at the family home, or outside the home at a monthly Parents Day Out, which offers children opportunities for socializing. In-home care is scheduled on an as-needed basis. Parents Day Out is offered at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, usually on the third Saturday of the month, from 10:00-4:00. Special-needs children and their siblings are welcome to join us for all or part of that time. For more information on in-home care or Parents Day Out, email us at respite-care@att.net or call 316-283-6441. R.E.S.P.I.T.E.Relaxation: Respite allows families to relax away from the demands of care giving, to regain their energy and humor.
Enjoyment: Respite allows families time to enjoy outside activities and allows the special-needs child to enjoy the company of a new friend. Funding:Trinity Heights Respite Care is a non-profit program sponsored by Trinity Heights United Methodist Church and depends on grants, donations, and contributions by client families. A family’s hourly rate is calculated on a sliding scale based on income. No client family pays more than half the cost of a care provider’s time; therefore, Trinity Heights Respite Care is constantly seeking to raise funds to cover the wages of its care providers. Each year, Respite Care has two major fundraisers, to which everyone is invited: In January, we hold a This N That Sale, a giant indoor garage sale at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church. In April, we hold a Dinner Theater at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church. Raise money for Trinity Heights Respite Care just by searching the web and shopping online!
